US potato crop mostly good to excellent
For the week ended September 27, 2026, condition ratings across the seven states reporting weekly ranged from 64% good to excellent in North Dakota to 97% in Minnesota, with Oregon 18 points above its five-year average at 77%. Harvest progress spanned 43% complete in North Dakota to 59% in Maine. USDA's November 2025 forecast put the 2025 US potato crop at 412.1 million cwt, down 2.2% from last year. Idaho and Washington, the two largest producing states, are both forecast below their 2025 final volumes, at 138.4 million cwt and 88.6 million cwt. The next state-by-state condition update will show how harvest closes out in the remaining acreage.
